Checkbook cover: Plaid first step completed

Oh boy, do I need a break from this plaid as I feel all dizzy and am now cross-eyed, not a good feeling nor a pretty sight :-(
.
I have just completed the first step for the plaid with multiple horizontal rows of stitches of different colors working one stich in every other stitch. To make this worst, I had to use 3 strands of floss and use my laying tool for each one of them. It does take a lot of time to fill that space.
.
The next step will be adding rows and rows of vertical ones using the same four color threads, filling in the empty spaces created while stitching my horizontal rows.

This is a close-up view. Don't you agree that this is dizzying?
.
I will give this project a break or rather give myself a break and will work on something else at least for a few days before going back to it.

Well I can see what you mean this is rather hard on the eyes looking at it and to be stitching it I can understand you taking a break from it, this is coming along well and I know that it will look lovely when completed

Hi Pierrette,

It's very pretty but yes I do see what you mean about it looking wavy!

I'd alternate between a thread on this project and then something else so you aren't continuously stitching on this project. Though once you add a couple of threads vertically, it might not look as wavy.

Pierette,

I'd be cross-eyed too! I saw these designs on De Bee's Designs and thought about doing a checkbook cover or business card carrier. Now I'll know not to choose the plaid design.

Did you happen to see the Gingham Dog and Calico Cat on the cover of Needlepoint Now? Just looking at the directions for the plaid made me sea-sick. Can you take Dramamine and stay awake to stitch?

Just think about how neat it will look when you're finished, though!

Terry,

It is a lovely piece but gosh it is hard on my eyes.

Cynthia,

That is exactly what I will need to do, work a little on it and then move on to something else.

Rinda,

Yes, I have seen the Gingham dog and Calico cat. I don't think that I would want to venture this right at this moment (lol)

Hope I never have to go to the extreme of having to take Dramamine or any kind of drugs so that I can stitch (grinning)

I am hypersensitive to all drugs so that would not be such a hot idea :-)

Yes that is what will keep me going :-)

Is/where is this pattern available? I haven't seen it for sale anywhere. Or was it a class so that the instructions are not for sale? I would love to add it to my stash! Ellen

Ellen,

Actually this project was given to me by a friend and I believe that it was an ANG chapter project, so that may be quite difficult to find around.
