It's gorgeous! Seeing yours encouraged me to buy this one - not that I needed another project! :-)

Terry,

This piece has made me a big fan of Blackwork. I don't care too much about ordinary Blackwork but pieces like those are just so much fun to work on.

Celeste,

Whenever I finish a project and it needs to be framed, I send my husband to the framer with my finished piece and let the two of them put their heads together and come up with something that I hope will be beautiful.

My husband told me that it was quite difficult to come up with a proper frame because of all the different colors in the piece.

He said when the top part worked nicely, the bottom part (brown) did not work well and the opposite was also true.

They made a compromise with this frame thinking it was the best they could do.

I had no idea what they had chosen and what a surprise when I saw it as this frame was just so different from everything else he has ever brought back but I immediately loved it.

I have never been disappointed by any of their collective choices, so far.

Juli,

I agree with you, this design by Marion Scoular is amazing. What a wonderful designer she is.

Jeanne,

I am glad that you decided to buy it. I had very little experience in Blackwork when I worked the project. Marion explains things well and if you have the chance to have some of her books like the one called Why call it blackwork? you will find most of the stitches that she used in the Princess and the Pea in that book.

I had also taken a GCC called Beginners hardanger with Marion and that helped me also with the top part of the project.

Good luck with it. If you need help, write to me.
