Persian Fantasy: Area 5

Well it seems that area 5 will take me quite a bit of time to complete as I have only been able to stitch one section of it and there are four of them and it took me a big chunk of the morning and a portion of the afternoon too. The thing is that there are 3 steps necessary in order to complete this design and I am using 5 ply which means that I am using my laying tool, which means "time". The effect though is really pretty. It almost looks like velour and with the metallic thread added to it, makes it look really rich.
.
The photo above shows area 5 with areas 1 and 3. Hope I am not confusing you all too much with all those areas as I think that I am already starting to confuse myself and there are 15 areas total :-(
.
I have taken a closer look of a section of area 5 for you with one of the flower.

At this speed, I still have three more days of work on area 5 before I can move on to my third lesson and I really can't see how I can move any faster as these things just takes lots of time in order to do them properly.
.
I always say that it is not the destination that counts but the journey, so got to live it now (grinning).
.
I wanted to make a nice coconut pie this morning but never got to it, so will leave my stitching for today and get to it. I think that is one of my very favorite pie next to chocolate and apple.

I was googling "hapsburg lace" and came across your wonderful sampler. How thrilled I was to see it was stitched by someone I know -- what lovely work you continue to do, Pierrette. Nice to touch base with you again after such a very long time. Just the other day I was reminiscing about the Knickers we made for Terri. That was sure fun -- and the ATC's for you. Your work is even more beautiful.

This is a very moody but at the same time rich looking area and not sure what the thread is but it looks very velvet/velour right and the silver really makes it pop and come to life, keep up the good work and I was hoping for a slice of your pie,

So darn it I will have to wait for another day to have some

Hi Jackie,

It has been a very long time indeed and it is nice to hear back from you again.

We did have a ton of fun with these, didn't we? So much joking around and laughing. I have very good memories of that time.

Thanks for dropping by and saying hello :-)

Hi Terry,

Yes, did make that pie late yesterday afternoon and since it needed cooling down quite a bit, actually takes much better after spending some time in the refrigerator, we still have not tasted it, so you are not too late to get that slice :-)

The Jane Zimmerman pieces I've seen in person depend greatly on a perfectly laid thread for their effects so don't worry about how long it takes. The end result will be worth all the time and trouble!

This looks very good so far. I'd always wondered about JZ's pieces so it is a treat to see one being stitched. Thanks!

Hi Jane,

I actually love using a laying tool but of course that means that this is a piece that will have to be stitched slowly and I fully agree with you, the end result will be worth all the time and trouble.

I have another project of Jane Zimmerman that I just could not resist and it is very high on my list of projects to stitch. It is her "Oriental Butterfly" but that will be goldwork and not needlepoint.

I am so looking forward to work on that one too. Goldwork is another technique which you can't rush, but it is so beautiful.
