Janice Routley, the designer for this project, gave us the option to fill in the little caps in different ways. I chose to bead the purls using various lengths, placing them in random directions, made some loops and overlap others, to give the little caps some dimensions. I agree with you. This design would look great done with other techniques and threads. Stumpwork, needlepainting, brazilian embroidery, etc. would all look great.
I just love that little design, the fact that I have always loved oaks may also have a little something to do with it too :-)

I still have to finish off my Goldwork piece that is Silver but for some reasont they still call it Goldwork.

This morning I woke up and decided that I wanted to do a little Brazilian embroidery.
Since I have never done all that much BE, I decided to go with an "Adapted Beginning Pillow" - JDR201K.
The pillow is divided in 9 squares and has a different flower arrangement in each square.
I can work on one square and then alternate this project with some other already started projects.
Also, I could use another pillow :-)

Yes it is all couching except for the little acorn caps, which is filled with three different kinds of purls, cut in different lengths and sewn like beads.

I've got 2 Brazilian kits and I hope to have a go at the simpler one too, so keep an eye out for it!=)
An absolute classic. You have done a glorious job of stitching this. Gold work to me is hard to execute well and you certainly have done so. Bask in your well deserved glory.
